Thu. May. 03, 2012 What is meant in Hebrews 3 and 4 by "my rest"

QUESTION: What is meant in Hebrews 3 and 4 by "my rest"?  Is God promising internal peace to certain people or have I missed the point? ANSWER: The issue of God's rest in Hebrews 3-4 is in one sense a simple question to answer and in another sense, it is quite difficult as the answer inspires subsequent questions.  Strictly speaking the "rest of God" is a synonym for "heaven" or "the eternal kingdom".  What the author is saying is that...keep reading»»

Sun. Apr. 29, 2012 Song of Solomon

Hi all, Pastor Paul here.  This FAQ is actually an anticipation - no one has asked me this question as part of the WTTB journey so far, but it has come up several times in the past.  Tomorrow (or today depending on when you get this) you will begin reading "Song of Solomon".  Song of Solomon is likely the least read portion of the Bible among Evangelicals after Leviticus.  There are a variety of reasons for that.  When I was going through the Arrow Leadership...keep reading»»

Sun. Apr. 22, 2012 Why do we read books like Leviticus?

Hi all, Pastor Paul here.  One of the questions I have been asked countless times over the years is some version of this:  "Why do we read books of the Bible like Leviticus?  Isn't all of that obsolete and passé under the New Covenant?  Isn't it actually kind of primitive and pre-enlightened?  Wouldn't we be better to relegate study of such things to historians and theologians?"  Have you ever been asked that?  Have you ever asked that...keep reading»»

Wed. Apr. 18, 2012 Family Devotions

QUESTION: This question has been slightly altered to obscure the identity of the asker and to reflect other similar questions I have received from other people. It will be likely be useful only to parents of younger children. "Hi Pastor Paul, we are enjoying the Walk Through The Bible Journey and want to teach the Bible to our kids but are not sure how to do that. You mentioned Family Devotions in your last sermon and that reminded us that we need to get going with this in our home. Can...keep reading»»

Tue. Mar. 20, 2012 Galatians 3:7-9 - Being blessed in Jesus Christ

Hey all, In your readings over the weekend you will have read where the Apostle Paul said: 7Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.   8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed."  9So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.  (Galatians 3:7-9. NKJV) Whenever...keep reading»»

Tue. Mar. 20, 2012 Speaking in Tongues

QUESTION: Hey Pastor Paul!  I just want to clear something up in my mind.  In your sermon on Sunday you said things like: "Speaking in tongues is good, hearing from God in other ways is good, we're not cessationists" etc. but then you also said: "we don't do open mic tongue time.  We don't let people speak gibberish into the microphone during a service".  Do you think that tongues is gibberish?  Do you think that it has no real meaning?  That...keep reading»»

Tue. Mar. 13, 2012 Seeing God

Hi all, Over the last couple of days in our readings there have been several examples where folks are said to have in some way "seen God".  For example: 9Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. (Exodus 24:9-10. NKJV) 5"I...keep reading»»
